ICTI CARE Foundation Names New President & CEO
17 November 2014
The ICTI CARE Foundation, the International Council of Toy Industries’ (ICTI) program to promote ethical manufacturing, fair labor treatment and employee health and safety in the global toy and children’s product supply chain, has named Carmel Giblin as its new president and CEO. Giblin will officially assume the role on February 2, 2015.
Alan Hassenfeld, co-chair of the Foundation’s Governance Board, praised Giblin’s extensive expertise, noting that, “Carmel comes to us with a wealth of relevant experience, well-equipped to lead the ICTI CARE Process as we review and implement our strategic plan.”
For the past five years, Giblin has served as the CEO of Sedex, a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to driving improvements in ethical and responsible business practices in global supply chains. Prior to her time at Sedex, Giblin was head of corporate responsibility at BSkyB, the leading home entertainment and communications provider in the UK & Ireland.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for me, allowing me to use my experience to lead the ICTI CARE Process in the second decade of its growth as one of the world’s most respected industry-led ethical manufacturing initiatives,” Giblin said.
Giblin succeeds Christian Ewert as president and CEO. As previously reported, Ewert departed in May of 2014 after leading the Foundation for its first ten years. In the interim, Frank W. Clarke of the Foundation’s secretariat has been serving as acting managing director.
